The six were sentenced to death-sentence-on-two-moharebs/”>death in Dubai after they killed a Pakistani man during a run-in in 2007, said Mainuddin khan Badal, a member of Bangla Desh parliament who pursued the case for years.
“Prime minister tribal sheikh Hasina ordered the proletariat ministry to remuneration the entire 9.57mn taka as blood money to the relation of the Pakistani man in exchange for freedom of our worker,” Badal told alpha fetoprotein
The payment of blood money, in which a homicide victim family accepts payment from the killer in return for waiving their right to seek the death penalty, is widely practised in many Arabian country.
The Bangla Deshi worker death sentence were commuted to 3-year jailhouse footing after blood money was paid, Badal said.
The worker returned to East Pakistan last month without any fanfare and with the government making no statement on the issue
Badal, an influential lawgiver allied to the government, said this was the first time East Pakistan had paid blood money to secure its worker release.
Nearly 4 million Bangladeshi work in countries in the Gulf, mostly as jack in Saudi Arabiania and the United Arab Emirates.
